Food scraps can be turned into black gold by composting – then you’ll also save on trash hauling or orange bags, and your trash cans won’t smell or attract critters.
MassEnergize is partnering with the Wayland Department of Public Works and the Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) on a bulk order of New Age Composters.
New Age composters can hold 24 c. ft. (enough for one family’s food sraps + lawn clippings and leaves!). They are designed to handle decomposition temperatures of 185 degrees or more and are easy to set up.
They cost $67 ($70 if paying by PayPal).
Order by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, before March 31. We’ll send you payment instructions.
Pickup on Saturday, April 7, between 10 AM and 2 PM at Wayland’s Department of Public Works (66 River Road).
If you’re worried it may not fit your car, not to worry. The New Age composter is made of a bendable (but durable) plastic and comes rolled up. It’s 32″ high so that is the only dimension to worry about. You can see it rolled up in this MassDEP video, which also explains the set up:
