October (10/25 and 10/28) = Wayland Walks Month

October is Wayland Walks month!

Wayland Walks to Worship, The Wayland Interfaith Leaders Association joins Wayland Walks in sponsoring Walk-to-Worship month during the month of October. Wayland houses of worship are encouraging members of their communities to walk to their church, synagogue, mosque, or other place of worship. If the walk is too far, they are invited to walk to their neighbor’s house and carpool, or to ride their bicycles to either their neighbor’s house or their house of worship.

Wayland Walks to School will focus on the three elementary schools, each of which is working with the Wayland Police to provide a day in October when all children will be encouraged to walk to school. Each school has a different plan, based on their location and sidewalk accessibility, as well as other factors about their populations.

  • Children at Happy Hollow will walk together from Hannah Williams Park on Friday, October 20, with a rain date of Monday, October 23.
  • Claypit Hill School students will walk from Adams Lane to school on Tuesday, October 24, with a rain date of Thursday, October 25.
  • Students at Loker School will be encouraged to walk or ride their bicycles to school on Wednesday, October 18, with Wednesday, October 19 as the rain date.
