Wayland is partnering with The Great American Rain Barrel Company to offer discounted rain barrels to residents.
“We (are) offering this program to help manage rising water costs, save vegetation from drought conditions and help our community protect its aquifers,” Don Millette, the Wayland DPW’s water superintendent, said in a press release. “We want residents to use rain barrels because they are an effective way to collect and save water.”
Residents can collect as much as 1,500 gallons in a season by using a rain barrel. The barrels provide a water source for watering landscaping and reduce runoff. They are easily connected to the downspouts and can be linked together, according to the release.
The barrels come in forest green, Earth brown or Nantucket gray.
Painted ones cost $69. Unpainted ones cost $64.
